A tale of wood.

Mike Peters found his love of woodworking later in life, after a career in IT spanning Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

While fixing things was always a hobby, and he helped out his dad as a boy, it wasn’t until Covid that the building began.

Chairs and tables made of pallets for the garage were followed by a pinball machine – a wooden shell, the electronics and a digital display – the trifecta of Mike’s skills. Looking to build more beautiful furniture, work began on his first native hardwood piece – a bathroom vanity made out of recycled rimu.

Projects kept coming, despite Mike being limited to building outside work hours. Frames, cutting boards and book shelves made way for bigger projects, including drawers and drawer fronts, counter tops and more vanities – all made from New Zealand hardwood, mostly rimu.

Mike has decided to make his passion a reality – to build beautiful lasting furniture out of recycled hardwood to suit families and their homes.
